FIRE BLANKETS
the very first fire blankets were made of 100% wool, they are still used by fire departments! so why should/do we use the 'plastic' (fibreglass) version at home? they are not beautiful at all and do not really fit in our actual interior design. actually, the woollen blanket (wool is warm and does extinguish flames) is very suitable in a home environment, for comfort and just for grabs in case of fire, positioned in a prominent place instead of being stowed away in a box or cupboard on the wall.
there are 3 different fire blankets, for 3 different situations at home:
cooking - eating - living
a dishtowel, to hang next to your ordinary dish towel, the difference being shown with a strongly distinctive flame pattern.
a damask woven tablecloth + napkins, e.g. in case of a candle falling down or the Christmas flowerarrangement catching fire, a simple folding down of the table cloth or covering up with a napkin will be sufficient to extinguish the fire.
a warm plaid to drape over the sofa, to be reached for immediately when something goes wrong with the candles or fireplace.
all three fire blankets have a distinctive flame pattern, which differs from very subtle (damask) to very clear and visible (dish towel & plaid).
the perfect combination of comfort and safety!
